Our Mission …
To meet the needs of vulnerable and at-risk children.
“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the honor of kings.”
Proverbs 25:2
Our Vision and Mission
The Journey of a Pure Heart
Hakima Ministries is a Christian ministry started in 2010 by Al and Missy Terry in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. The Terrys moved to Kenya in 2013 and built a growing ministry there, serving and discipling the youth and young adults. Hakima is still serving in Kenya, but God has called the Terrys to relocate back to Northwest Florida and expand the ministry; hence The Journey. Hakima is an Arabic word meaning wisdom. But it is more than a word, it is a phrase that means the Journey of a pure heart.
Vision
In 2021, God began to weigh heavily on Al and Missy’s hearts the growing number of orphans in America. The Holy Spirit gave them a vision of a community of homes where families would come and live, and orphans would be placed in each of these homes. These families would be missionaries. But, instead of going to a foreign country, they would come to Paxton, Florida. The vision was so clear and precise the Terrys knew it was the heart of God. God confirms everything with His Word.
Mission
The community would have a working farm as part of the ministry. The community would include Ten Homes, a Welcome Center, an Events Center which will be a large barn-type structure that can be used for gatherings and weddings, a small Chapel, Fishing Lakes, a Town Center which would be a facility for community outreach and where the community can come and serve the children and families.
This new ministry in Florida is called The Journey. In January of 2024, The Journey began with the purchase of a 66.5 acre farm in Paxton, Florida.
Our Core Values
Lordship
The Bible says in Revelation 19:16 that Jesus is “King of kings and Lord of lords.” We believe that wholehearted submission to His will is the starting point of the Christian faith and the foundation of all spiritual growth.
Leadership
The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:2 that we are to teach and train others who will, in turn, train others. God has given each and every believer gifts and talents and calls us to impart into others.
Discipleship
God has called every believer in Matthew 28:19-20 to make disciples. Hence, one of our primary focuses of The Journey is to help people build their lives, both spiritually and relationally.
Evangelism
John 3:16 clearly tells us that God loves people sacrificially. God’s heart is to reach those who don’t know Him. We are passionate about doing the same.
Compassion
Matthew 9:36 shows that Jesus saw people and was moved with compassion for them, and we want to have that same compassion and love for others. We seek to extend the grace and mercy of God to those both near and far.
Spiritual Family
Psalms 68: 5-6 makes it clear that God builds through family, both natural and spiritual. God has called all believers to be a part of a healthy spiritual family.
