Join in The Journey to Have an Impact on a child’s life
“A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His Holy
Habitation. He sets the solitary in families…”
Psalm 68:5-6
Who We Are
Would you consider supporting us financially and with your prayers?
In 2013, the Terry family relinquished all their possessions, packed a few suitcases, and embarked for Nakuru, Kenya. It was an act of obedience that some might deem daring. Departing from the serene Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, neither Al nor Missy had previous experience in ministry. Al had never even been on a mission trip. However, they were convinced of God’s calling to the mission field, and declining was not an option. Thus, Hakima Ministries was born—founded on love for Jesus and a commitment to walk by faith. The Journey is a project of Hakima Ministries who is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization in the United States and as an incorporated ministry in Kenya. More than a decade of living in Kenya prepared the Terrys for the next phase of their ministry. We invite you to join us on this journey of placing vulnerable children into Christian homes.
As the ministry enters a new chapter, it seems fitting to call it The Journey. We pray that your support for Hakima Ministries will persist through The Journey. If you are a new partner, we eagerly anticipate witnessing how God will use your faith in this fresh season. Whenever you assist and nurture orphans, you are engaging in the Lord’s work.
The Journey's Mission
To meet the needs of vulnerable and at-risk children by providing a Christian home where their God-given purpose can be fulfilled.
The Problem
The Time to Act is Now! – Impact a Child’s Life
It is estimated that over 10 million children are living in some form of an institution and more than 65 million children are living on the street. The number of children living in foster care is nearly 500,000 with approximately 130,000 waiting for adoption. These statistics are staggering and continually growing every day.
“Lift up your eyes and see that the fields are white for the harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.” – John 4:35 – 36
